7 Essential DIY Face Masks

With nice weather just around the corner, we all want to have as fresh and dewy skin as possible. After all, spring is the time for rejuvenation and renewal and one of the best ways to achieve this for our skin is Face Masks. They can be easily incorporated into our weekly skincare routine to help fight the dry, dull, and possibly even damaged skin from the winter, or just give an extra push to achieving a healthy glow.

It’s time to introduce homemade, natural, no fuss, no bother, and economical face masks into our lives. They can be made to address any and all concerns you might have while nourishing and pampering your skin. So let’s take a look at the different face masks that can easily be made from the ingredients already in your house:

Exfoliating

Yogurt and Mint Leaves mask, these ingredients provide a combination of lactic acid, zinc, and antioxidants which are able to moisturize, calm and balance skin while exfoliating.  Combine 1 tablespoon of chopped mint leaves to 1 tablespoon of yogurt.

Unclogging Pores

When you want to clean out your pores try mixing together a blended half a cucumber, 2 tablespoons of honey, 2 tablespoons of oatmeal. After leaving it on the face for 20 minutes, wash off with a water and lemon juice mixture. Your face will look and feel clean and fresh.

Anti-Aging

Combine 1/2 of a cleaned and blended, ripe papayaâ, 1/2 teaspoon honey, and 1/4 teaspoon lemon or lime juice. Papaya is a great source of antioxidants and enzymes that rejuvenate the skin with lemon and honey adding more of the soothing and glowing effect. Rinse off after spreading and leaving it on the skin for 15 minutes.  

Nourishing

If you want to eliminate dryness, especially good for those hard to get rid of dry spots, then this mask is for you. Combine 1 egg yolk, 1 teaspoon of coconut oil, 1 teaspoon of yogurt, 2-3 teaspoons of ground oatmeal. After applying to face, leave on for 20 minutes, then wash off with lukewarm water.

De-Puffing

The detoxifying effects of this mocha mask are evident right away. Blend together 2 tablespoons freshly ground coffee, 2 tablespoons pure cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon honey, 3 tablespoons yogurt. Leave on the face for 10 minutes, then rinse off while massaging for an extra exfoliating effect. The caffeine in the mask works to reduce swelling and puffiness, antioxidants work to reduce signs of aging, and to finish off the yogurt helps to restore moisture to the skin.

Moisturizing

This avocado-based mask is super moisturizing and works great for dry and sensitive skin. Mix 1/2 mashed avocado and 1 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil. Apply a thick layer to a clean face, leave on for 15 minutes and wash off. Your Face will feel and look more smooth and hydrated than ever.

Tightening

Who doesn’t want to lift up skin that might be sagging just a bit? This mask will tighten and lift skin for a truly renewed look. Mix 2 tablespoons of honey, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon of clay (bentonite, green, or white clay would work). Spread a thick layer on a clean face for 15 minutes then rinse off.
