The 88th Academy Award nominees have long been revealed and with the Oscars just around the corner, it’s time to sink our teeth in. The Oscars paired with the Academy Awards are known to kick off and highlight the beauty trends to follow this year. Many of us are wondering what the stars will be wearing and just how far they will go with their frocks! More importantly, who will steal the title?

We love scouting the red carpet for the latest trends and have highlighted our favorite picks from the Academy Awards Best and supporting Actress nominees.

Best Actress Nominees:

Saoirse Ronan (“Brooklyn”)
Cate Blanchett (“Carol”)
Brie Larson (“Room”)
Jennifer Lawrence (“Joy”)
Charlotte Rampling (“45 Years”)

The race for the best actress seems to be a full on battle between Brie Larson (“Room”) and Saoirse Ronan (“Brooklyn”). The rising stars gave two of the year’s most resounding performances. With Brie Larson’s taking of her first Academy Award and earlier winning the Golden Globe, SAG and Critic’s’ Choice, it is likely that she will be the one to grab the title, but who knows?

Best Supporting Actress Nominees:

Kate Winslet (“Steve Jobs”)
Rachel McAdams (“Spotlight”)
Jennifer Jason Leigh (“The Hateful Eight”)
Alicia Vikander (“The Danish Girl”)
Rooney Mara (“Carol”)

Best supporting actress currently seems like a wide open race! Alicia Vikander and Rooney Mara landed their spots in the nominees as expected, both of whom have rising star potential which may or may not be noticed by the board. On the other hand, with no shortage of previous nominations to her name, Kate Winslet is in for the run again! Jennifer Jason Leigh and Rachel McAdams fit nicely into the collective, though Leigh’s ferocious performance in Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight” has many pining her as the category’s definitive victor.
The race is on and it’s anyone’s guess!

Who do you think will be stealing the best actress titles next week?
